The Move
In one week Aaron and I will be on a plane, finally on our way towards a grand adventure- working and living on a dragon fruit farm in Maui.
Seven days left of anticipation, three days left until we’re totally moved out of our West Seattle apartment. The torturous ‘limbo’ feeling has definitely subsided as we get closer to our departure. Days are now limited and there’s no time for dilly-dallying.
These last couple months we’ve been leisurely packing and debating on what to keep or let go, while spending quality time with our friends and family every chance we get. Overall, this has been liberating, yet an emotionally exhausting experience.
We bought a one-way ticket to Maui, and we really have no set plan to come back to Seattle.
We have good jobs to come home to next April, but we just don’t know what we will want to do.
This uncertainty might be the most frustrating concept for some of our family and friends, and it’s frustrating to try and explain too. We have no idea how we’ll feel or what opportunities could arise while we’re away. Island living for four months might be just enough. Or maybe, we’ll need a little more time, a little more space- a precious opportunity for us to just be and grow- individually and together.

Our Alki apartment has been our first home together. We came back from our honeymoon in St. Lucia, and found this amazing apartment right on the beach. We moved in as soon as we could, with all our wedding gifts and precious traveling trinkets we’ve collected over the years.
As magical as our memories are here, the reality of our situation is starting to make us a little nuts: wearing five layers to bed, sleeping on the floor next to our living room fireplace, and having most our clothes and belongings packed away in our car (oh, and no cooking utensils to make any food)….We are ready for a change.
But here are some precious photos of the past year and half we've been here ❥
